Feature surveys are an important part of successfully completing any type of digital design. Natural and man-made features are in 3 dimensions, so capturing these in 3D allows the designer to determine the best location for concept designs.
Feature surveys include the location of existing overhead and underground utilities. These services may need to be relocated prior to undertaking earthworks for the newly proposed design. Once the existing utilities have been surveyed, 3D modelling can commence. Alignments can be piped with the correct dimensions. Vertex and string attributes can be added to alignment properties providing service information. This can include the asset type, asset owner, asset status, capacity, size, configuration, material, depth, quality level and condition.
Completing feature surveys at the earliest stage of your project can potentially save large costs allowing minimal hidden surprises for constructable design. Once 3D designs are complete and construction is underway, Works as Executed (WAE) surveys are a benefit for QL-A locations. Absolute Utilities have the in-house qualified capabilities and the necessary survey equipment to complete all types of surveys for design relocation, existing asset 3D modelling, construction set out and WAE.
